The Orange Coast College Foundation announced an all-time record of cash gifts totaling $4,343,652 for 2013-14, according to Doug Bennett, Foundation Executive Director.

FALL SEMESTER BEGINS AUGUST 25 WITH 10% INCREASE IN CLASS SEATS
When Orange Coast College begins its fall semester on August 25, there will be 7,145 more seats available for students – nearly a 10% increase from last year. Coast will have 81,532 seats available compared to 74,357 in fall 2013.

FALL WELCOME DAYS 2014
“Welcome Days” take place Monday, August 25, and Tuesday, August 26 – the first two days of fall semester classes. The campus is recruiting volunteers to spend an hour or more greeting students and providing information such as campus maps at one of the information tables in the Quad (by RBM Theater), Library (near parking lot E & Lewis) or in front of Watson Hall.

KEVIN BALLINGER TO SERVE AS INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT OF INSTRUCTION
Kevin Ballinger, Dean of the Consumer and Health Sciences for the past 18 years, has been named Executive Dean of Instruction at Orange Coast College. He replaces John Weispfenning, Ph.D., who left Coast to become president of Santiago Canyon College in the city of Orange after two years at OCC.

KRISTIN CLARK NAMED OCC MANAGER OF THE YEAR
Kristin Clark, OCC’s Vice President of Student Services, is Orange Coast College’s 2013-2014 Manager of the Year. It is the second time Clark has won the honor – she was named Manager of the Year by Coast District Management Association in 2006-2007.

OCC ARTS PAVILION LAUNCHES 2014-15 SEASON
The Orange Coast College Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion will launch its 2014-15 season with a pair of exhibits, artists from The Kiyo Higashi Gallery in the Main Gallery and sculptor Julia Klemek in the Second Gallery. The public is invited to an opening reception on Wednesday, August 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Both exhibits will run through October 1. Admission is free.

ACCJC CONFIRMS OCC ACCREDITATION
The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC), reaffirmed Orange Coast College’s accreditation and removed the college from warning status, OCC President Dennis Harkins announced.
