$1 MILLION GIFT TO FUND OCC ASTRONOMY VILLAGE
An anonymous donor has given Orange Coast College’s Foundation $1 million to develop an Astronomy Village in the Science Quad area that includes the Lewis Applied Science Building, ABC (Allied Health, Biology and Consumer Science) Complex and the Science Lecture Hall.

FREE ONLINE TUTORING DURING WINTER INTERCESSION
The Student Success Center is offering free online tutoring to Orange Coast College students during the Winter Intercession. Students must be enrolled in a class to access the service. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed from any computer. Subjects available for tutoring online are math, physics, accounting and writing for all classes.

FACULTY, STAFF INVITED JOIN SURVEY ON CAMPUS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Orange Coast College has partnered with the RAND Corporation, a non-profit research organization based in Santa Monica, and the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) to conduct a survey to learn more about faculty and staff experiences and attitudes related to student mental health and well-being, perceptions of how campuses are serving students’ mental health needs, and perceptions of overall campus climate toward student mental health and well-being.

OCC CREW WINS MEN’S OPEN AND NOVICE EVENTS AT NEWPORT CHASE
The inaugural Newport Chase ran on November 23 on a beautifully clear day with flat, calm conditions. Twenty men's and women's eights from Coast, UCLA, UCI, and CSULB, along with 10 Masters doubles and singles, raced on a 3-mile course from near the UCI boathouse in Back Bay, around Lido Isle to the finish in front of the OCC Boathouse. There was a lot of great racing from all crews, as they navigated around tricky bends and through two bridges.
