Carisa Montooth
, a staff aide in the President's Office, will leave her OCC position on December 14th to pursue adjunct counseling faculty opportunities in the District, including OCC and Coastline.

Carisa has a master's degree in educational counseling from the University of La Verne. In recent years, she worked as a part-time counselor at Coast, and she served as the OCC representative to CCA, the part-time faculty union.

Although she is leaving the President's Office, where she assists administrative assistant Julie Clevenger, Carisa plans to continue to serve as co-chair of the Umoja Committee, and as representative on the Re-Entry Committee. The Umoja Committee works to enhance the cultural and educational experiences of African American and other students. Carisa also plans to continue counseling for the EOPS and CTE (Career Technical Education) programs at OCC.

Carisa's departure will leave a vacancy on the Staff Development Committee, where she has served as co-chair. Questions about Staff Development should be forwarded to Lynnette Stiles in Administrative Services.

"I have enjoyed working with everyone in my role as staff aide to the President, and I look forward to continuing to work with you as part of the faculty as well," Carisa said.

Carisa was also recognized by her coworkers, who selected her to receive OCC's Hearty Rower Award. The honor is passed from one staff member to another in recognition of their service and dedication as an OCC employee.
