Richard Raub

Richard Raub

A special Orange Coast College Alumni Choir Reunion Concert is scheduled for the Robert Moore Theatre on campus on Friday evening, Feb. 8, 2008.

Titled "The Legacy Lives On," the memorial concert will be held to honor the life of Richard Raub, director of OCC's Chorale and Chamber Singers, from 1970-93. Raub died Oct. 5 following a long battle with lymphoma.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m., and a reception will be held afterward. The program will be announced at a later date.

The concert will be directed by Alvin Brightbill. Former Saddleback College Music Department chairman and director of choral and vocal studies for 30 years, Brightbill is now retired and teaches voice at Cal State Fullerton and Concordia University, Irvine. He is also director of music at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Hills.

Brightbill has a varied background as a music educator and as a professional musician. His formal training includes a bachelor of music degree from Chapman University and a master of fine arts degree in voice and conducting from California Institute of the Arts. Brightbill maintains a busy schedule as a professional singer.

All of Raub's former choral students are invited to celebrate his life and legacy by singing in the Reunion Choir. In addition to his 23 years at OCC, Raub also directed choirs at Saddleback College, Whittier College, Chapman College, Spurgeon Methodist Church and West Anaheim Methodist Church.
