melodrama performance

Orange Coast College's Repertory Theatre Company will stage its annual holiday show for kids – and parents and grandparents – this weekend on campus.

Titled "An Old-Fashioned Christmas Melodrama and Ice Cream Social," the holiday treat runs Friday through Sunday, Dec. 14-16, in OCC's Drama Lab Theatre. Curtain is set for 7 p.m. Friday, and 2:30 and 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The show, under the direction of OCC theatre arts instructor, David Scaglione, will feature an evening of music, vaudeville acts, a holiday sing-along, a children's joke contest, and the college's traditional holiday melodrama. The production is geared for the entire family.

This year's melodrama, written by Scaglione, is titled "A Christmas Carol From the Misty Mountain Top."

Everyone in attendance will be treated to a free ice cream favor. There will also be a visit by Santa, so parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Advance tickets, priced at $6, are on sale in the Bursar's Office, located adjacent to OCC's Student Center. The office is open Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $7. All children's tickets are priced at $5.

Tickets may be purchased by phone or online, using Visa, Discover or MasterCard. The online address is www.occtickets.com. For information, phone (714) 432-5880.
