starbucksOrange Coast College's Starbucks Coffeehouse opened for the first time this week.

Starbucks is located in the new $6-million Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion. The Pavilion, situated next to the Arts Center, includes an Art Gallery and a Young Artists Gallery.

The Doyle Arts Pavilion will officially open on Friday, Feb. 2, with an exhibition honoring the college's 60th anniversary. The Starbucks Coffeehouse will close for the winter holiday, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Spring classes begin on Monday, Jan. 29.

OCC's Starbucks is open Mondays through Thursdays, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Starbucks store is being operated by OCC's Instructional Food Services Program. Sixteen employees have been hired by the store, and most are students who attend OCC classes.

The store seats up to 48 persons inside, and 40 under a covered outside patio. The area in and around the store is wireless, and customers can access the Internet on laptop computers.
