On A Personal Note

Ron SchryerFORMER OCC STUDENT, AND 19-YEAR FACULTY MEMBER, RON SCHRYER, died last Friday following a three-week stay in the hospital. He was 78. His family was at his bedside. Ron earned his A.A. degree at OCC in the early 1950s. He taught math in the Newport-Mesa, Anaheim Union High School and Huntington Beach Union High School districts. He returned to OCC's campus in the fall of 1965 to teach mathematics. Ron retired at the age of 57 in 1984. He remained active with Orange Coast College's Emeritus Institute. A memorial scholarship in his honor is being established through the OCC Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who plans to pursue a career in teaching.

Flo Hanchett
CONDOLENCES TO FLO HANCHETT, an OCC associate professor of sociology for 34 years, from 1969-03, whose daughter, Suzan Marie Elliott, died of a brain hemorrhage on Monday, Nov. 21. Suzan was 46. A memorial service in her honor was held last Saturday at Grace Church of Orange.
