In an effort to improve communication with employees, the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees has promised to email a “Monthly Report” to faculty and staff members. The first “Monthly Report,” dated December 12, states that faculty and staff will receive a report each month about Board issues and decisions.

STARBUCKS TO RE-OPEN JANUARY 6
The campus Starbucks will be open starting January 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The coffeehouse will resume its regular schedule when spring classes begin January 27.

FREE ONLINE TUTORING DURING WINTER INTERCESSION
The Student Success Center is offering free online tutoring to Orange Coast College students during the Winter Intercession. Students must be enrolled in a class to access the service. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed from any computer. Subjects available for tutoring online are math, physics, accounting and writing for all classes.

FACULTY, STAFF INVITED JOIN SURVEY ON CAMPUS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Orange Coast College has partnered with the RAND Corporation, a non-profit research organization based in Santa Monica, and the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) to conduct a survey to learn more about faculty and staff experiences and attitudes related to student mental health and well-being, perceptions of how campuses are serving students’ mental health needs, and perceptions of overall campus climate toward student mental health and well-being.

The daughters of OCC Spanish professor Denise Cabanel-Bleuer, Maia and Keira, performed in the Long Ballet’s “Nutcracker” on December 14 & 15. It was Maia’s fifth year and Keira’s second year as dancers in the show. Performances continue December 21 & 22. “This magical production includes special effects and the only full symphony orchestra in a SoCal Nutcracker show,” Denise said.
