Faculty can take advantage of two classes that will be offered in January and include PDI units.

Boot Camp 2014, which includes a free lunch, will be offered on Wednesday and Thursday, January 22 -23, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the John Clark Computing Center. Lunch will be provided by OCC Staff Development, and the class is approved for PDI units.

Topics include: Regular Effective Contact, Grade Center, Student Engagement, Adobe CS Basics, Inline Grading, Using CCC Confer, Films on Demand, Electronic Library Resources, Plagiarism Prevention, Faculty Open Forum with Blackboard, Course Quality Improvement.

On Wednesday, Dr. Carol Basile will present “From Bag to Pouch – Teacher’s Best Friend.” On Thursday, Blackboard expert Liam Ferris will present “Never Stop Learning.”

Faculty members interested in teaching an online class can sign up for “Strategies to Teaching and Learning Online – Winter 2014. The workshop, which meets from January 6-31 online, will help faculty better understand the pedagogy, androgogy and tricks of teaching online, which is not the same as teaching in the class. It is approved for 20 hours of PDI credit.

A Getting Started Meeting will take place on Monday, January 6, at 9:00 a.m. in Computer Center 101. This workshop meets the OCC Distance Education Guideline requirement to be eligible to teach hybrid or online classes.
