“Splendors of the World,” a dance performance and silent auction, will take place on Sunday, January 26, in OCC’s Robert B. Moore Theatre.

OCC dance instructor Angelika Nemeth is producing the extravaganza with Sonia Velasquez-Miskulin, founder and director of the Academy of International Dance, a nonprofit organization that provides children in Santa Ana with an opportunity to experience international folklore dance. The producers rented the OCC facility for the event, which is not sponsored by the college.

“Splendors of the World” will conduct a silent auction at 6:00 p.m., followed by a performance featuring 55 dancers at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For more information and tickets, visit the event website at or call (714) 293-2182.

Nemeth, who earned certificates in dance and theatre arts and related technologies, holds a BS degree in education and an MA in psychology specializing in the transformational arts. She performs and teaches Raqs Sharqi, popularly referred to as belly dancing, and folkloric dance styles from the Near and Middle East.

She teaches dance accredited classes in Middle Eastern dance at two Southern California colleges. She also regularly organizes and leads dance study tours to the Middle East.

Nemeth was influential in the creation and development of Orange Coast College’s World Dance Certificate Program, and she has produced and directed numerous world dance concerts. She also co-produced two historic International Conferences on Middle Eastern Dance held on the OCC campus in 1997 and 2001.

She is artistic director of the Angelika Nemeth Dance Ensemble (ANDE). Her work which combines traditional forms with contemporary staging has been performed in diverse settings from intimate supper clubs to large theatre stages in the USA and abroad.
