COSTA MESA – The future looks bright for the OCC women's volleyball team as three freshman players – Sierra Brown, Carina Perez and Kellie Kleszcz – each earned All-Orange Empire Conference honors for 2013.

Brown and Perez earned first-team, all-conference selections, while Kleszcz was picked on the second team during last week's end-of-season meeting between the OEC coaches.

Brown, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter from Newport Harbor HS, led OCC (12-8, 7-7) and finished third among all OEC hitters with 273 kills and also notched 214 digs, 12 blocks and 12 aces. She topped 10-or-more kills in 15 of OCC's 20 matches, including a season-best 31 on Sept. 20 against Pasadena City College.

Perez, a 5-3 libero out of Foothill HS, led the Pirates with 349 digs, fourth-best in the OEC. During the regular season, she also set a new school record with 44 digs in a single match on Oct. 9 against Fullerton.

Kleszcz, a 6-foot middle blocker out of Valencia HS, finished with 135 kills and a team-best 27 aces, .381 hitting percentage and 40 total blocks. She picked up more success in her offense up the middle as the season went on, notching 60 kills and 21 blocks over OCC's final eight contests.
