Student Workers Needed!
The Orange Coast College Planetarium hires student assistants to help with the day to day operation of the facility. Planetarium staff will be responsible for assisting with numerous functions, including presenting planetarium shows, customer service at the gift shop and ticket counter, working with telescopes, conducting Science on a Sphere programs, and interacting with visitors in the exhibit space.
Candidates should be in good academic standing, be comfortable with public speaking, presenting, and/or performing in front of a wide range of audiences, have completed college-level coursework in at least one natural science (i.e. Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, etc.), be comfortable working with children, and have strong computer skills.
Applicants with interest in and knowledge of astronomy, especially the ability to identify constellations and operate a telescope, will be preferred.
This position is ideal for students seeking experience in science, education, and public speaking.
Hours are flexible around classes, and may include events on evenings and weekends.
Salary: $13.00 hourly
