Accounting

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​As a crucial component of business practices, accounting is one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand career fields today. Every organization. public or private, has a need for professionals with accounting skills.
  
Orange Coast College's accoun​​ting program is designed to serve students who currently are employed and want to enhance their skills, as well as students who want to transfer to a four-year institution, and individuals who have already completed their accounting degree and want to prepare for the Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Management Accountant exam. 
 
Upon completion of the accounting program. students will be prepared for careers as staff accountants, bookkeepers, tax staff, payroll specialists, accounts receivable specialists and more. 

 

Certificates of Specialization

Accounting Technician 

This certificate provides students with a working knowledge of various software programs used by the industry in the process of reporting of account activities. Upon completion, students will be adept at using commonly used accounting software, and be able to demonstrate the computer skills needed to retrieve and manage information in an accounting environment. 
     

Entry-Level Accounting 

This certificate provides students with basic accounting and computer accounting coursework. Completion of the certificate will enable students to apply for entry-level positions in accounting. 
     

Full Charge Bookkeeper 

This certificate integrates all aspects of the accounting cycle. The program focuses on the application of accounting activities within the framework of industry software. Upon completion of the program students' employment opportunities within the accounting field will be enhanced significantly. ​
