Culinology is defined by the Research Chef's Association as the blending of the culinary arts and the science of food. With corporate headquarters of several restaurant chains as well as large and small food manufacturers located in Southern California, opportunities for interesting and rewarding careers exist for individuals trained in culinary arts and food science.
Certificates of Achievement
Level I - Culinary Food Science Assistant
This program is designed for students who are interested in working as assistants in the following fields: food research and development, product development, recipe development, product duplication, quality assurance, sensory or flavor chemistry. Upon completion of this certificate students will be prepared for careers as competent entry-level culinary and food science assistants, meeting the needs of the community and able to communicate and work effectively with chefs, food scientists and clientele.
Associate of Science Degree
Level II Culinology - Professional Level
This certificate option is articulated with the Food Science and Technology, Culinology track at Cal Poly Pomona, and all coursework is approved by the Research Chef's Association.
Upon completion of this program students will be able to transfer to selected colleges in Culinology. The program requires an associate of science degree - please see the Catalog for additional course requirements.
