Nutrition and Dietetics Technician

​​​​​Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (NDTRs) are trained in food and nutrition, and are an integral part of the health care and food service management teams. They work independently or as a team member under the supervision of a registered dietitian nutritionist in a variety of employment settings, including health care, business and industry, community/public health, food service and research.

Nutrition and Dietetics Technician 

This program prepares students to join the nutrition and dietetics team in various nutritional aspects of health care. Employment opportunities for NDTRs include hospitals, nursing homes, retirement centers, public health agencies, community health programs, food companies, and contract food management companies.

 

Successful completion of the program qualifies the student to sit for the national Registration Exam for Dietetic Technicians, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, in order to become credentialed as a Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR). Students are highly encouraged to become a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
