Electronics Technology

​​​The Electronics Engineering program at Orange Coast College prepares students for employment and career advancement in the diverse fields and industries that apply electrical and electronic technologies. Two industries are emphasized in the program's curriculum: reliability technician (test and diagnostics) and industrial automation. Students who complete the program are prepared to confidently take certification exams that are recognized nationally and globally, including CompTia, Certified A+ Technician; International Systems Automation Society, Certified Control Systems Technician; ETA­International, Certified Electronics Technician; ETA-I, Biomedical Electronics Technician; FCC, General Radio Operators License; and more. 

Certificates of Achievement 

Electronics Reliability Technician 

This program prepares students for entry-level employment by developing the fundamental skills for a technician's knowledge base in a contextual environment that emulates real world experience, such as electricity, electronics, computer hardware, and mechanics. Students will take courses in direct current circuits and robotics, among others. 

Electronics Engineering Technician 

This program prepares students for entry-level employment in any electronics engineering-related field. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the Certified Electronics Technician exam. 

Industrial Automation Technician 

This program prepares students to perform entry-level maintenance calibration and diagnostic procedures on control systems. Students who complete the program are prepared for transfer to the International Society for Automation-Certified Control Systems Technician training program, or the Fanuc Robotics-Certified Electronic Robotics Technician training program. Graduates also will be prepared for transfer to a four-year engineering technology program. 

Certificate of Specialization 

Electro-Mechanical Technician 

This certificate focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related courses, and empowers students by developing time management and study skills that increase productivity both on campus and in the workplace. This certificate also prepares students to take the Comp TIA A+ Computer Technician certification exam.
