Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

​​​​​With an aging population that has ever-greater medical needs, speech pathology has become one of the most in­-​demand careers in recent years. Speech pathologists help people speak and communicate after they've had strokes, cancer of the larynx, traumatic grain injuries, tumors or Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Speech pathologists also work with children who suffer from speech impediments. 

​Orange Coast College's Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program provides the community with professionally trained personnel to assist the speech pathologist in this specialized field. Speech-language pathology assistants provide services to a diverse population by administering therapeutic and screening services. Employment opportunities included positions in private offices, hospitals, educational institutes and rehabilitation centers. 

Associate in Science Degree

Graduates of this program will be competent speech-​­language pathology assistants meeting the employment needs of the community and participating in professional growth activities.
