Orange Coast College offers certificates in Art Services, Ceramics and Narrative Illustration for individuals looking to take the next step in their artistic careers. The skills picked up in OCC's Commercial Art program are versatile. and areas that graduates can pursue include industrial design, advertising, museum and gallery exhibition, graphic design, storybook illustration, studio work and specialized design services.

Narrative Illustration 

Are you wondering how you can turn your drawing skills into a career? 

This certificate offers a great variety of drawing and painting courses, and may lead students into careers as book, magazine or corporate brochure illustrators. The program emphasizes hand made creations that can stand on their own. but also be adapted to electronic media.

Art Services 

This certificate is designed to prepare students who 
are looking for careers as exhibition designers and museum and gallery professionals. Basic gallery practices in archiving, registration processes and related art management techniques are covered. The program ​also includes training in the handling, storage and cartage of cultural objects. Students create a portfolio of accomplishments in exhibition design and curating, including a prospectus for an exhibition of the student's own design and curation. Students who already have ​a bachelor's, master's or master's of fine arts degree ​in Studio Art or Art History can use this certificate to enhance their marketable skills in the field. 

Ceramics 

This certificate covers the interaction of clay and glaze. studio organization and maintenance, and industrial specialization. This program is intended to provide the necessary tools for a student to perform at basic levels within the ceramic community. ​
