Medical Transription

Transfer Courses

All courses numbered 100 or higher are transferable to the California State Universities (CSU). Courses that are transferable to the University of California are designated 'UC.' Some of these courses have limits on the amount of credit that is granted. See the UC Transferable Course List available in the Counseling Center or Transfer Center for these limitations. Courses that are non-credit or not AA degree applicable are designated with the letter 'N' preceding the course number. Identification of courses that have been accepted into the California Articulation Number (CAN) system appears after the course title.

MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION

Medical Transcription A190- Beginning Medical Transcription (3)
Prerequisite: Medical Assisting A175 and Allied Health A111, or concurrent enrollment.
Instruction and experience in beginning medical transcribing procedures. Special emphasis on medical terminology and techniques of preparing discharge summaries, operative reports, histories and physicals and consults. Two hours lecture, two hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Medical Transcription A195- Advanced Medical Transcription (2)
Prerequisite: Medical Transcription A190.
Instruction and experience in advanced medical transcription procedures. Special emphasis on transcription of history and physicals, consultations, operative reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and various reports relating to laboratory/special procedures. One hour seminar, three hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU.
