Christine Baltes, originally from Chicago, was trained in ballet, modern, tap and ethnic dance forms with specialized study in jazz dance with Gus Giordano, one of the fathers of American Jazz Dance. She has traveled the United States performing in stage productions, television, industrials and dinner theatre before moving to California. Christine founded and served for many years as Artistic Director for Jazz Spectrum Dance Company. Her choreography and company have been presented at several dance festivals in Los Angeles and Orange County and at the Jazz Dance World Congress in Arizona and Chicago.

Christine is a Certified Gyrokinesis® pre-trainer, Gyrotonic® and Pilates instructor. She has taught at Orange Coast College since 1991 and has held faculty positions at University of California, Irvine, Chapman University, California State University, Long Beach, California State University, Fullerton, Cypress College, Golden West College, Fullerton College and several other colleges, as well as the Orange County High School for the Arts and the Academy for the Performing Arts High School. She has also taught for Debbie Reynolds Dance Center, Elevation Studios, Lou Conte Dance Center and Gus Giordano Dance Center in Chicago. Christine continues to teach at OCC and DeFore Dance Center, presents master classes and workshops, choreographs, and works with clients in her Pilates and Gyrotonic Studio.
