Jennifer Parra, a native of Southern California, began her formal dance training at the Orange County High School of the Arts. In 2000 she earned a BFA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach where she was awarded the Lana Alper Scholarship in Dance. While at CSULB she was selected to perform the works of noted choreographers Keith Johnson, Della Davidson, Susan McLain, Doug Nielsen and David Parsons. Jennifer has been honored to dance professionally and tour with Keith Johnson/Dancers, Nugent Dance, Palindrome Performance Group, and Vox Dance Theater with whom she traveled to Scotland to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2009 she received a Lester Horton Award for Small Ensemble Performance from the Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles for her work as a company member with Keith Johnson/Dancers. Her own choreography has been presented at Orange Coast College, the SOLA Contemporary Dance Festival, the So-Cal Dance Invitational, the Young Choreographer’s Festival, and the American Dance Festival Student Concert. Jennifer has taught modern dance at OCC since 2005 and she is a certified Pilates instructor.
