OCC Symphony

The OCC Symphony, composed of OCC students, community members, and professional musicians under the direction of conductor Christopher Gravis, presents 4 to 6 annual concerts at the Robert B. Moore Theater, featuring a broad repertoire that ranges from standard classics to Broadway tunes and choral/orchestral repertoire. Recent performances have included Verdi's Requiem, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 (Brian Gould, soloist), Brahms' Symphony No. 4, and Copland's Appalachian Spring. The Symphony rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. throughout the academic year. A telephone interview and an informal audition will determine whether there's a place for you with OCC Symphony. Interested musicians are invited to contact Gravis at cgravis@occ.cccd.edu

OCC Chamber Singers

The OCC Chamber Singers, a select ensemble of approximately 30 voices directed by Eliza Rubenstein, is our most advanced and accomplished chorus. The ensemble has recently been called "spectacular" and "outstanding" by adjudicators—a testament to its members' hard work and serious commitment to a high level of technical and musical achievement. The Chamber Singers' repertoire is diverse and challenging; 2009-10 performances included Schubert's Mass No. 2 in G and Eric Whitacre's Five Hebrew Love Songs. The Chamber Singers rehearse on Monday and Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:35, and a full-year commitment is required. Admission is by audition during the first week of the fall semester.
