The Orange Coast College Art Department offers students courses in almost every art form imaginable. Programs available include AA Transfer degrees in Art History or Studio Arts, and certificates in Narrative Illustration, Entertainment Art and Ceramics.

Art History and Art Appreciation courses offer students the chance to better understand the link between history and the art that emerges from specific periods. There are also more detailed courses related to contemporary art, Asian art, and Art of the Americas

Drawing courses at Orange Coast teach drawing the still life from observation, life drawing, and the exploration of advanced drawing media.

Printmaking classes allow students to explore the power of the multiple through an exciting survey of processes including relief print: collagraph and linoleum cut, intaglio, and screen print.

Painting classes at Orange Coast are a great way for students to start their art education, with courses in painting media that include oil, watercolor, acrylic and more.

Ceramics classes offer students an introduction to the potter's wheel, and instruct in the basics of art forms including raku, hand building, and porcelain.

Students may also choose to learn carving, modeling, and casting in sculpture classes. In jewelry classes, students may create wearable art, using similar skills to sculpture.

In the field of entertainment design and illustration, students can create new characters and new worlds by taking courses in Narrative Illustration, Entertainment Art, and digital painting and sculpture.
