Important Dates and Events to Remember:

 

Honors Student Council: 

Thursdays  4:30 - 5:30pm

Watson Hall 433

All students enrolled in the Honors Program welcome to apply for positions or just sit in and contribute at meetings. 

 

Honors Orientations

Various dates and times; See list under "Honors Orientation" at left

 

OCC Scholarships

Deadline to apply: February 28, 11:59 pm  annually

Honors Scholarship Workshops:  TBA

Minimum criteria for consideration:  3.50 cum GPA, 12 or more units of completed college coursework, enrollment in at least 6 units of coursework in spring application term and following fall semester in order to receive award(s).  Two letters of recommendation, essay, and completed online application by Feb 28 deadline.

 

ASOCC Service and Leadership Awards

Deadline for advisors to submit your applications:  Mid-March annually  (must be to your advisor first week of March).

Criteria for consideration:  20 or more hours of voluntary service to one or more combined OCC organizations (clubs, honor societies, student government, Disabled Students' Center, Adapted PE, Teacher Assistantships (no course credit/no pay) , etc.  Application must be submitted by advisor with his/her evaluation by March deadline.

 

Honors Transfer Council of CA Student Research Conference

Last Saturday in March or first Saturday in April annually.  Proposals are due before winter break.

 

Western Regional Honors Council Conference and Scribendi Reception

Usually early April annual; locations change each year.  Proposals are due before winter break.

 

Garrison Fellows

Highest recognition awarded by OCC Honors Program, given in memory of Honors Program co-Founder, Dr. Tom Garrison (Marine Science).  Students may NOT apply for this recognition.  Garrison Fellows are identified by the Honors faculty of each divison offering Honors classes and are awarded to students demonstrating exemplary academic achievement and campus commitment.  A private reception for the students, their families, and nominating faculty is held before an awards ceremony in the Robert B. Moore Theater, usually in conjunction with Green Coast Day in mid-April near Earth Day.

Fellows receive certificated, engraved crystal desk medallions, and their names added to a perpetual plaque of all-time Garrison Fellows.

Bay Honors Consortium - Honors Research Symposium

Aternating Years:  Stanford University (odd years) or University of California, Berkeley (even years)

Open only to students enrolled in the Honors Program

Usually held on the first Saturday in May

 

Honors Program Spring Recognition Ceremony and Reception

An annual occasion to recognize the students receiving Honors Program Certificates of Completion.  By inivitation to students and their families.  Usually held between Mid-April and early May.

 

OCC Commencement Ceremony and Post-Graduation Reception

Annual ceremony requiring an approved petition to gradate (submitted to the Graduation Office in early spring for May graduation). Usually held one evening during finals week.

Graduation Rehearsal BBQ - day before graduation; meet in the Fairgrounds Parking Lot.

Pacific Amphitheater - OC Fairgrounds

Reception with food and beverage in the Parking Lot immediately following commencement ceremony

Free admission for all who would like to attend
