STEM Academy

​The Orange Coast College STEM Academy serves as an opportunity for students to find the resources and tools they need to succeed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses offered at the college. By applying to the academy, accepted applicants would be offered the following benefits:

  • One-on-one counseling sessions
  • Supplemental Instruction workshops in gatekeeper courses to achieve an increase in pass rates
  • Transfer support to any 4-year university
  • STEM Textbook Loan Program
  • Student Peer Mentoring Services
  • Special guest speaker and networking opportunities
  • Science Clubs and Support Groups
  • Peer STEM Cohort Communities - to build peer learning communities and social support
  • Opportunity to apply for a paid summer research experience, attend STEM professional conferences and field experiences
  • STEM Workshops on careers, transfer process, scholarships, and research opportunities
  • Plus many other benefits
Students interested in joining the STEM Academy will need to meet the following requirements for admission and participation in the program:


Admissions Requirement

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Orange Coast College
  • No previously earned bachelor's degree
  • Be in a declared or undeclared STEM Major

Program Requirement

  • Attend 3 STEM workshops per semester
  • Meet with a STEM Counselor at least once a semester
  • Apply to at least one internship, scholarship, or research program per semester
