SAN MARCOS - In 1956, the Dodgers were in Brooklyn, the Giants were playing at the Polo Grounds, the cost of gas was 30 cents per gallon and Orange Coast College pitcher Wayne Coughtry pitched the school's first (and last) no-hitter against Fullerton.
Fifty-one years later, OCC righthander Ryan Shopshire nearly equaled the feat, but a two-out, ninth-inning base hit spoiled history as the Pirates rolled past Palomar 11-1 on Thursday.
