OCC Track and Field

OCC's Team Philosophy

Track is a very unique sport because it is both an individual sport as well as a team sport. We will always emphasize the team first. All rules are set to better the team; no individual is bigger than the team. When the conference season comes to a close with our conference finals meet, we will then focus more on the individual, as Southern California and State competition begins. Our goal is always the same, and that is ...

To do our best, win or lose and to represent ourselves and OCC with integrity and good sportsmanship.

2007 Season Recap

The 2007 season was a successful one for the Pirates. The men's team completed the Orange Empire Conference dual meet season with 5-1 record and then finished a close second at the OEC Conference Meet. The OCC women posted a 4-2 conference record but had to settle with a third place finish at the OEC Finals. Individual conference championships (7) for the men went to Kyle Peterson (pole vault and decathlon), Brandon Babiracki (800 meters and 1,500), Scott Burbach (javelin), Keneti Faagata (shot put), and Andres Rossini (discus). The OEC individual women’s championships (5) went to Brenda Finney (100 hurdles and 400 hurdles), Erendira Uriostegui (800), Brittany Ickes (javelin) and Jade LeBlanc (pole vault). At the Southern California Championships, the men finished sixth while the women finished 11th. Brandon Babiracki was a double Southern California champion for OCC in the 800 and 1,500. At the California State Championships, the Pirate men finished in eighth place while the women finished in 19th. Brandon Babiracki won the 1,500 to become our lone state champion. By placing in the top four at the State Meet, we had four JC All-Americans, Brandon Babiracki (first, 1,500), Kyle Peterson (third, decathlon), Andres Rossini (third, discus and Brenda Finney (third, heptathlon). A truly great ending for the Pirates, as we now set sail for the 2008 season.
