John Clark — the retired professor for whom the Clark Center is named — passed away on July 13. He was 85.
Clark came to OCC in 1960 as an instructor of mathematics, but eventually branched out to teach computer science. From his obituary:
In addition to teaching he wrote the state adopted 3rd generation computer curriculum. He coauthored two programming books and was listed in the credits of a film and television production. He was president of the Orange County Mathematics Association and of the Radio Communication Monitoring Association.
At Orange Coast College, he was selected as the first Faculty Member of the Year. Two years after he retired to Arkansas, the Orange Coast College Computing Center was named in his honor.
Being a bachelor all his life, he had no children, but will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
