President’s Corner — New HR Director

Orange Coast College President Dr Dennis Harkins Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that effective Monday, Sept. 25, Rebecca Morgan will take on the role of Human Resources Director for Orange Coast College.

Rebecca has been OCC's Employee Relations Manager since August 2016. She joined OCC after relocating from Texas where she had worked for nearly five years in the Human Resources/Organizational Effectiveness Division of Texas A&M University. In that role, Rebecca was instrumental in a number of initiatives including, for example, implementing a division-wide Council on Respect as well as a number of employee recognition efforts. Prior to that, Rebecca worked in private industry where she acquired nearly ten years of progressively responsible experience providing a full range of Human Resources' services.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, and while working full-time, Rebecca completed her Master's in Organizational Management through the University of Phoenix. Please join me in congratulating and supporting Rebecca in her role as OCC's Human Resources Director.

As you probably know, Denise Leat has been serving as the Interim Director of Human Resources for Orange Coast College since February 2016. Denise had been working as a Human Resources consultant for a few years after retiring from the Orange County Superior Court in 2014. Denise has agreed to stay on with the District and OCC as a part-time Professional Expert to work on a number of Human Resources-related projects that will benefit OCC employees. Please join me in thanking Denise for her service and wishing her success in the next phase of her work with Coast Community College District.
