Twenty-five OCC students will present posters on the culture and history of natives of the United States and Latin America on Wednesday, Nov. 27 in recognition of Native American Heritage Month. The event - which is co-sponsored by OCC’s Multicultural Center - will take place from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge, and snacks and refreshments will be served.
Students created the posters as part of either a history class with Professor Jordan Stanton or a Native American class with Professor Ulrike Green. Each student addresses current issues and problems which natives of the Americas face.
“Using Native American Heritage month as a backdrop we hope that students who attend will learn something exciting and get into conversations with the presenters,” says Professor Green. “If this works out we would like to make this an annual event and hopefully expand it to other disciplines as well.”
