OCC Dance Opens Spring Master Class Series with Eminent Choreographer

Orange Coast College's dance department  is thrilled to host Los-Angeles-based Gregory Butler, associate choreographer for the six-time Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical CHICAGO on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 3-5 p.m. in the College’s Dance Studio B. Butler will teach a master class musical theater workshop exploring the vocabulary of Bob Fosse and the choreography of Ann Reinking, culminating in dancers learning  a section of the iconic ALL THAT JAZZ.

Butler is an Artistic Creative Consultant, director, choreographer, actor, singer and dancer. He has performed on Broadway, off broadway, as well as in national tours, stock/regional, film and television. As a director/choreographer he has inspired, guided and encouraged the artistic endeavors of artists in the United States and Europe. He currently is associate choreographer for Broadway musical Chicago and has mounted productions all over the world including the legendary Hollywood Bowl. Butler is very enthusiastic when it comes to the process of creating. He’s honored to teach workshops based on the Fosse vocabulary as seen through Ann Reinking’s choreography for Chicago.

The master class is open to the public and the cost to attend is $15. Tickets can be purchased online at www.occtickets.com or at the door (cash only). OCC students with student ID will receive a discounted rate of $5. For more information contact Rachel Berman at rberman3@occ.cccd.edu
