College Life Committee
Every year, College Life hosts many events that integrate community service into the campus community. Some examples of these are the Angel Tree Drive, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, Special Olympics, and Science Night. The committee also sponsors many events on campus such as Open Mic Nights and Movie Nights. In addition, College Life sponsors events with other programs such as the International Center, Student Health Center and Children’s Center. These activities unify the students, clubs and staff at OCC with the surrounding community.
College Life Volunteer Team
The Volunteer Team assists students who would like to get involved in Orange Coast College student life by volunteering for ASOCC’s College Life Committee events. Through this experience, students will be exposed to and learn about event planning and leadership development.
Orange and Blue Spirit Crew
The student-run Orange & Blue Spirit Crew coordinate student attendance to athletic games, organize events pertaining to athletics, and promote student awareness about the OCC athletic department. The purpose is to encourage students to network and to promote student involvement in order to create a more meaningful college experience.
The Advocacy Committee
The Advocacy Committee is a group of student leaders who seek to protect the college’s interest as it relates to education policy, financial aid, and other legislative issues. The committee educates the campus on current issues, holds petitions and letter writing campaigns, tracks legislation, and lobbies with our state and federal representatives.
Fiscal Affairs Council
The Fiscal Affairs Council is appointed by the Student Senate, and the Council selects one of its members to serve as the Vice President of Fiscal Affairs. The Fiscal Affairs Council provides oversight and stewardship of ASOCC funds, including: considering all requests for funds outside of the ASOCC annual budget, reviewing and revising ASOCC fiscal guidelines, and address any other fiscal concerns that affect the Associated Students’ funds.
Shared Governance Committee Members
Students can also apply each semester to sit on a variety of shared governance campus committees such as Facilities, Bookstore, Technology, etc. Theses appointed students work side by side with OCC administrators, faculty, and staff and represent the student voice.
The InterClub Council, headed by the elected InterClub Council President and other elected and appointed officers, hold monthly meetings with active clubs, sponsor club events, workshops and organize campus-wide club activities such as Club Rush and Coast Days.
