Students are encouraged to participate in any number of leadership opportunities. Leadership opportunities become available in Spring for the following academic year, but positions may open up at any time during the year. Please check with the ASOCC office for open positions or for more information on how you can get involved.

Student SenateThe Senate is the legislative branch of the Student Government of Orange Coast College (SGOCC) and is responsible for writing and passing resolutions, student government policies, and approving financial allocations to OCC clubs and programs.
Executive BoardThe Senators appoint the majority of the SGOCC Executive Officers: SGOCC President, OCC Delegate, Vice President of Diplomatic Affairs, Vice President of College Life, and the Vice President of Communications. The Vice President of Fiscal Affairs is appointed by the council members while the InterClub Council is elected by the club delegates. The SGOCC Executive Officers perform duties which help facilitate the business conducted by the Senate.
College Life CommitteeEvery year, College Life hosts many events that integrate community service into the campus community. Some examples of these are the Angel Tree Drive, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, Special Olympics, and Science Night. The committee also sponsors many events on campus such as Open Mic Nights and Movie Nights. In addition, College Life sponsors events with other programs such as the International Center, Student Health Center and Children’s Center. These activities unify the students, clubs and staff at OCC with the surrounding community.
College Life Volunteer TeamThe Volunteer Team assists students who would like to get involved in Orange Coast College student life by volunteering for ASOCC’s College Life Committee events. Through this experience, students will be exposed to and learn about event planning and leadership development.
Orange and Blue Spirit Crew
The student-run Orange & Blue Spirit Crew coordinate student attendance to athletic games, organize events pertaining to athletics, and promote student awareness about the OCC athletic department. The purpose is to encourage students to network and to promote student involvement in order to create a more meaningful college experience.
The Advocacy Committee
The Advocacy Committee is a group of student leaders who seek to protect the college’s interest as it relates to education policy, financial aid, and other legislative issues. The committee educates the campus on current issues, holds petitions and letter writing campaigns, tracks legislation, and lobbies with our state and federal representatives.
Fiscal Affairs CouncilThe Fiscal Affairs Council is appointed by the Student Senate, and the Council selects one of its members to serve as the Vice President of Fiscal Affairs. The Fiscal Affairs Council provides oversight and stewardship of ASOCC funds, including: considering all requests for funds outside of the ASOCC annual budget, reviewing and revising ASOCC fiscal guidelines, and address any other fiscal concerns that affect the Associated Students’ funds.
Participatory Governance Committee MembersStudents can also apply each semester to sit on a variety of shared governance campus committees such as Facilities, Bookstore, Technology, etc. Theses appointed students work side by side with OCC administrators, faculty, and staff and represent the student voice.
InterClub CouncilThe InterClub Council, headed by the elected InterClub Council President and other elected and appointed officers, hold monthly meetings with active clubs, sponsor club events, workshops and organize campus-wide club activities such as Club Rush and Coast Days.
Join or Start a ClubOrange Coast College is home to approximately 60 student clubs that engage students with shared interests. There are many clubs to meet a variety of social, cultural, political, career, recreational and religious interests. Stop by the ASOCC office for a complete listing of all registered clubs on campus or information on starting your own.

Mondays & Tuesdays: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wednesdays & Thursdays: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Fridays: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Closed Saturday and Sunday
During the summer, the office is subject to periodic closures for lunch and tasks around campus.
