Outside Scholarship Recipient's Information

For students who have received a scholarship from an organization other than OCC.
You are responsible for paying your tuition fees at the time of registration. However, as a courtesy, Scholarship Office may defer your registration fees if you have an incoming scholarship award from an organization other than OCC scholarships.
To have your tuition fees defer, please stop by the Scholarship Office and fill out the Service Request Form.  This process is not done automatically by the Scholarship Office.  To ensure your classes are not dropped, please fill out the Service Request Form, located in the Scholarship Office prior to your registration date.  This must be done in person each semester.
Once the semester begins, the Scholarship Office can pay your fees directly with your scholarship funds after we receive your check.  Registration fees covered with scholarship funds are paid starting the fourth week of each semester – no sooner.  This gives you a chance to make changes to your schedule the first two weeks of each semester i.e. adding and dropping classes.
Taking this step will prevent you from being dropped for non-payment.
If you have paid your fees you may request reimbursement from your scholarship account.  Please provide a copy of your registration receipt to the Scholarship Office,
A reimbursement check will be mailed to your home within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving your registration receipt.
Have you already purchased your books?
If you have, you may request reimbursement from your scholarship.  Please provide copies of your book receipts to the OCC Scholarship Office.  A reimbursement check will be mailed to your home within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving your bookstore receipts.
If you haven’t purchased your books and supplies yet, the Scholarship Office can set up an account at the OCC Bookstore for you to charge your textbooks, supplies & materials.
To request a book account, fill out the Service Request Form in the Scholarship Office.
It takes 24 to 48 hours from the time the Scholarship Office receives your request to set up an account, so please plan ahead.
The account will be active for one semester at a time. Try to request enough to cover your needs for the semesters.  This will insure that there is an account with funds available for the entire semester.   At the end of each semester, any unused funds will be transferred back into your scholarship account.
Students need to request an account open every semester, it is not done automatically.    Book accounts can be set up for summer school, however this needs to be done after July 1st of each year.
You may elect to pay for all of your expenses directly.  If so, you are entitled to be reimbursed for any expenses that relate to your attendance at college i.e. registration, textbooks, supplies and materials related to your classes.  Some scholarships reimburse for bus passes, towel fees, and other minor expenses.
Please provide copies of your receipts to the OCC Scholarship Office.  A reimbursement check will be mailed to your home within 2 to 6 weeks of receiving your receipts.
It is encouraged that you use your funds wisely, especially if you plan on transferring to a four-year college or university, and your donor will allow any excess funds to be transferred for your continued education.
While you are attending OCC, your account will remain active.  If you decide to transfer to another college, or if you have completed your education by acquiring an AA or Certificate, please make sure you contact the OCC Scholarship Office.
When you contact us, we will look up your account and if there is a balance remaining determine if we can forward the funds to your transfer college, or return the balance to your donor.
Each scholarship is different.  The college has an obligation to follow the guidelines set by the organization that awards the scholarship to you.  We are unable to make exceptions.
Scholarship accounts are evaluated once a year in the summer.  If your account has been in-active for 6 months or more, the funds may be returned to your donor.
Make sure that if you decide to skip a semester to contact the Scholarship Office and let us know what your plans are
