Tutors are available in the general area to help students with most classes other than English and Math. Tutoring is offered for classes in the Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Business and Computer Science, and Languages. Please check the drop-in schedule below to see when a tutor is available for your class. Tutors can help students better understand course concepts as well as provide strategies for test preparation, note taking and time management.
Study groups are a good way for students to work together to learn and understand difficult material. The tutor leading the session will review concepts, answer questions and provide study skills tips. Most study groups meet once a week for 50 minutes. Students may request a study group once they have enrolled in TUT 050N. At least 4 student requests are needed to form a group. Once the study group is formed, other students from the same class are welcome to join.
Students enrolled in the following programs are eligible for reoccurring weekly appointments: Veterans, DSPS, EOPS, Equity, Guardian Scholars, Puente, Umoja and PRESS. Students must ask their counselor to submit a referral form to the Student Success Center. Once received, the student will be contacted by a staff member to set up an appointment. The tutor will review class concepts, answer homework questions and provide study strategies like test preparation.
