Design Your Life: Career & Major Exploration (1.5 hours)
For most people, selecting a major and career path can be very confusing, stressful, and difficult, especially when entire industries can appear (and/or disappear) overnight. Using “design thinking” principles and mindsets, this workshop will invite students to explore a variety of career paths that they may enjoy while developing a sense of curiosity, adaptability, and creativity.
The workplace and classroom of tomorrow are uncertain places. We live in a rapidly changing world where innovations like artificial intelligence, automation, big data, and immersive media are transforming how we live, work, and learn. During this workshop, participants will learn more about some of the technology and trends shaping the future, what skills and mindsets will be needed for the future, and thought leaders and trailblazers to follow around these topics. Come learn how to disrupt and design your own future!
Between major/career research, job/internship opportunities, technical and soft skill courses, and user-friendly networking, it is no surprise that LinkedIn is the best career management tool out there. This workshop will provide tips and strategies on how to best use the site as well how to set up a profile and a presence. It’s never too early to get on LinkedIn!
** Note to Faculty: if you are interested in having one of the above topics to be presented to your class, please fill out this REQUEST FORM. Thank you!
