Welcome to Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) at OCC

Our goal is to keep our students, staff, and the community as safe as possible while providing continued service during this critical time by limiting exposure to the COVID-19 virus. The EOPS Office will be open and available to students online via phone, email, Canvas, or Cranium Café appointments.  We will be open for in-person appointments once the college is reopened.

EOPS is a State-funded comprehensive academic counseling program designed to provide additional support to eligible full-time students.

Our mission is to enhance each student's success by providing “over and above” services to students with economic and academic barriers to their education. Another fundamental goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students enrolled in community college. This is accomplished by providing an overall supportive environment with a variety of benefits and services. Eligibility is determined by academic and financial needs as mandated by the state.

Before applying for EOPS, students must have applied for the Board of Governor's Fee Waiver through the Financial Aid Office and have taken their placement tests or turned in placement test scores to the Assessment Center. Both the Financial Aid office and Assessment Center are located in Watson Hall for student convenience.

CARE is administered by the EOPS Program and serves the unique needs of single parents designated as head of household. When a student is accepted into CARE, they must have at least one child under 18, be a full-time EOPS student (at least 9 units,) and be a current recipient of CalWORKs/TANF/AFDC. All CARE students must be accepted into the EOPS Program.
The application period is open year-round for CARE/DSPS/CalWORKs and Foster Youth students
